How do I sign up for Grubhub?
Download the Grubhub app on your mobile device and create a new account (or sign in if you already have a Grubhub account). Once you are signed in, add New Paltz as your campus by visiting “Settings” within your “Account” menu. Select “Campus Dining” and search for “SUNY College at New Paltz” to add as an affiliation. You should now be able to view on-campus dining locations within your Grubhub account.
To add your campus ID card and connect your meal plan as a payment method, visit “Settings” within your “Account” menu. Select Payment > Add new payment > ID Card and enter your credentials. Please note: Your ID Card Number is the 15 or 16 number below your banner number on the front of your ID card.
I am an international student. How do I access the Grubhub app?
The Grubhub app is now available in the international app store, meaning that students no longer need to use a workaround to access the app. In addition, Grubhub is in process of developing the ability to apply international credit cards to purchases. Most countries are currently supported and others are being added on as quickly as possible. If you are an international student and are having trouble accessing the Grubhub app, please text HUNGRYHAWKS to 82257.
How do I use the Grubhub app once I’m signed up?
View on-campus food options within each dining location and add items to bag for checkout. Once you’ve placed your on-campus order, the app will notify you when your food is ready. You can pick up your food at the Grubhub pickup sign at the dining location you selected.
Where can I use the Grubhub app to order food for pickup?
You can order food items for Grubhub from the following locations on campus:
- World of Wings
- Hissho Sushi
- Pomodoro's
- Atrium Brew
- SubConnection
- Nester's Marketplace (located in the SUB)
- Sweets & Treats Bakery
- Element93
- Starbucks
- Krishna Kitchen
- Hugo's Fresh Nest
Which dining locations do not offer mobile ordering via the Grubhub app?
The dining locations that do not offer mobile ordering include:
- Peregrine Dining Hall
- The Roost at Ridgeview
What forms of payment can I use with the Grubhub app?
With your ID card linked to your account, Grubhub will accept Dining Dollars, Hawk Dollars and Meal Exchanges. Meal Exchanges can be used at select locations by ordering within the “Meal Exchange” menu. Please note: Sales tax will not be applied to orders paid with campus Dining Dollars. To manage your meal plan account balances please visit Newpaltzcas.com > Services > My.CasAccount or contact Card Services at 845-257-3034 for additional help.
Credit cards can also be added to your Grubhub account as a form of payment.
I would like to cancel an order. How do I do that?
To cancel an order, students must contact Grubhub support. To contact Grubhub support, click the "Need Help?" link on the “View Order” screen in the Grubhub app. Students can also email support@tapingo.com.
Can I use my meal plan or Hawk Dollars to purchase from off-campus restaurants?
No, students may not use their meal plan (meal swipes or Dining Dollars) or Hawk Dollars to purchase from off-campus restaurants via the Grubhub app. However, students CAN use credit or debit to make such purchases. Off-campus purchases via the Grubhub app are not managed by New Paltz Dining Services. For questions or concerns regarding off-campus restaurant purchases, students must contact the restaurant or Grubhub directly.
Can I order in-person at on-campus dining locations?
Students can order in-person from the following locations:
- The Student Union Building Concierge desk for all SUB locations (Atrium Brew, Hissho Sushi, WOW, Pomodoro’s, Nester's Marketplace, SubConnection, Hugo's Fresh Nest)
- Element93 Kiosks
- Starbucks cashier at Parker Theatre
- The Roost at Ridgeview convenience store
- Peregrine Dining Hall
- Sweets & Treats
- Krishna Kitchen
I’m having trouble with my payment method on the Grubhub app. How can I fix this?
The following are possible solutions to fix this error.
- Make sure that the Grubhub app is updated to the latest version.
- Try removing your New Paltz ID card and re-adding your ID card as a payment method to your account.
- Make sure you select the right payment method between Dining Dollars or Hawk Dollars. If you try to pay with a method in which you do not have a balance, the app will not let the transaction proceed.
- If none of the above solutions fix this error, please text keyword HUNGRYHAWKS to 82257.
Why does the Grubhub app list my dining plan meal swipe balance as N/A if I am enrolled in a dining plan?
The Grubhub app does not display dining meal swipe balances. Students can view their dining plan balances by visiting Newpaltzcas.com > Services > My.CasAccount. To view your meal plan balance, log in or create a new account.
How long does it take for my Grubhub order to be ready and how will I know when to pick it up?
The Grubhub app will provide real-time updates about your order and inform you when your order is ready to be picked up.
How far in advance can I place my Grubhub takeout order?
It is recommended that students place their orders near the time they would like to pick it up. Students are unable to order takeout in advance for a set time (For example, 11:00am the next day). The app will be updated with accurate wait times so students will know how long it will take for their order to be prepared.
Is the Grubhub app free for New Paltz students?
Yes, the Grubhub app is FREE for New Paltz students to use for on-campus takeout. There is no fee associated with using the app at campus dining locations.
Will I have to pay sales tax for my Grubhub order if I pay with Dining Dollars?
No, sales tax will not be applied to orders that are paid with campus dining dollars.
